3rd Grade Teacher

Dear Parents,

Hello and welcome to third grade.  My name is Mrs. Hill and I will be your child’s third grade teacher this year.  I am excited for the year ahead and I am happy for the opportunity to get to know each of you.  Here are a few things about me

I was born in New York City, New York but have spent most of my life here in Arizona.  I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.  My oldest daughter graduated from the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Columbus school of Law and has been a state prosecutor in Prince George’s County, Maryland for the past 5 years.  I am proud to say that she is now employed by the FBI.  My oldest son, Alex graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in Housing and Urban Development. Works on remodeling and redesigns by day and owns his own club by night. I should have that much energy. My youngest daughter graduated from ASU and is currently a stay at home mom. But not for too much longer to attend school again in nursing. I currently have 5 grandchildren and enjoying every moment. When I am not having fun at school, I enjoy horseback riding with my friends, shopping and reading a good book, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.

How exciting for both you and your child entering the third grade.  This year there will be expectations of a busy school year that will be both productive and happy.  I believe in creating a comfortable, nurturing environment where your children learn academically while growing socially; give adequate school training that will assist children in being a part of rather than apart from the social community; work to instill responsible, productive and considerate attitudes in children, while developing self-esteem by using positive reinforcement.  These objectives will be accomplished by teaching to the whole group giving extra assistance to those who need it, as well as supplementary activities to those who may need acceleration

Remember, taking time everyday to share your child’s experiences will pay big dividends.  It will help your child learn more when you are genuinely interested in his/her new discoveries.  If there is ever anything you don’t understand, please feel free to contact me.  I care very much about your child, just as you do, and we have a very heady mission in common—the success of your child!
