Tara Mitchell
Mrs. Mitchell is our 6th grade homeroom and middle school science teacher. She grew up in Tucson, AZ and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in English and a minor in political science. She served as a high school English teacher for seven years, primarily teaching honors and AP classes and coaching Academic Decathlon. For the next four years, she was a district-level instructional coach. In this role, she worked collaboratively with other instructional coaches to create and supervise the district induction program for 1st and 2nd-year secondary teachers; she assisted struggling experienced teachers to improve their craft; and she presented professional development classes at the school and district level.
Then, she took a “break” from education to become a stay-at-home mom and the family moved to Parks. When her youngest child reached preschool age, she became a substitute at Maine and was later hired as the middle school science teacher.
This is Mrs. Mitchell’s 15th year as an educator. She is currently certified to teach English/Language Arts 6-12 and middle school science. She has her 3-year provisional endorsement in gifted education and is pursuing a Masters in Education Administration.
Mrs. Mitchell has been married 13 years and has five children. Her pastimes include raising animals; hunting; gardening; reading; and spending time with friends and family.
