Ms Rebecca Cauthen
cauthen@mcsd10.org
Miss.
Cauthen graduated from Shorter University and recieved her masters degree of
Music in Teaching from N.A.U. with a degree in Elementary Education. She has
worked at Maine Consolidated School for 18 years. She has taught music, Spanish,
band, choir, Character Counts, Mindfulness, Odyssey of the Mind, as well as
gardening.Miss Cauthen has a Bachelor in Piano Pedagogy (private teaching) from
a Georgia University. She also has a Bachelor’s of Music Education and a
Masters of Music in Teaching from NAU. She attends lots of education classes
and trainings for teachers. Her philosophy is that every student should
experience enjoying and making music. The human brain lights up and engages
when experiencing music and language development. Music and language learning
are imperative on their own, but also opens a completely new world to students.
Her hopes and dreams is that students can create music and speak on their own.
An ideal goal is that students can create their own music, and carry on their
own conversation without assistance. Her favorite activities in class is
learning how to play the piano and having students design and create their own
instruments, reading novels in Spanish, and preparing to play with symphony at
an upcoming field trip to the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.
